To successfully connect Moss to Xero, you’ll need the information and permissions listed below. These settings allow users to set up Xero and Moss for the API and connect the systems. Complete the steps and read the tips to ensure a smooth connection.

Prerequisite User Roles in Moss: Access to Moss as admin or internal or external accountant.

Prerequisite User Permissions in Xero: Minimum permission required to set up Xero and connect the API with Moss is the role of “Standard” user and access to “Reports”.

Once you have confirmed you minimum access rights to both Moss and Xero, you can proceed to set up Xero user permissions. Doing so will allow you to set up the API connection from Xero.

How to set up Xero user permissions

  1. Click on the company name on the top left of the home page. Then click “Settings” and go to “Users”.

3. Hover over three dots on the right beside the username and click “Change Permissions”.

4. Select “Standard” under “Business and Accounting” as the user role setting, and enable permission for “Reports” by checking the box.

5. Click “Update Permissions” to save the settings.
