What is EBICS?
EBICS is a nationwide communication standard developed by the German Banking Industry Committee (Deutsche Kreditwirtschaft). It enables corporate clients to securely carry out transactions with their bank electronically. At Moss, the EBICS connection is used to provide account information.
How to set up EBICS for use with Moss
Request the activation of EBICS for all your business accounts from your bank advisor.
You can skip this step if you are already using EBICS for your accounts.
Request a new “technical user” for your company.
“Technical users” are users who are authorized to exchange data. You can either appoint one of your employees for this or your Onboarding Manager at Moss. On the third page, you’ll find a template text you can use to submit the request. CC support@getmoss.com in the email so we can assist directly in case of questions. The bank will then request a copy of the ID of the appointed person.
You will receive a letter with bank parameters from your bank
This letter includes a customer ID, participant ID, and participant name. Please forward this letter to support@getmoss.com.
Final step: You will receive an initialization protocol from us for your bank.
Please forward this protocol to your bank advisor by email.

FAQ:
Why is it necessary to connect my business accounts via EBICS?
To offer you a credit card limit tailored to your company — without requiring a personal guarantee, other collateral, a BWA, or other accounting data — we need to establish a connection to your company's bank account(s). The connection via EBICS is an alternative to the Open Banking interface (PSD2).
Why does Moss use EBICS?
The EBICS communication standard provides the highest level of security through modern data encryption and is compatible with all national banks. EBICS allows the fast transmission of large volumes of data, and once set up, access does not need to be renewed regularly.
I already have an EBICS user. Can I use this one?
Unfortunately, it is technically not possible to use an existing user multiple times. Therefore, it is necessary to set up a new user for the connection with Moss.
What type of user should I request?
You should request a “technical user.” This user type is restricted to read-only access.
What data will be transmitted from my bank to Moss via EBICS?
Similar to the PSD2 interface connection, your bank will transmit account details, balances, and transactions to Moss.
