What is an audit log?

An audit log is like a diary for each expense. It shows who did what, and when, so you always have the full story of how a transaction was handled. This makes it easier to prepare for audits, answer questions quickly, and show that your controls are strong.

Where can I find the audit log?

  • In Moss: You can download an audit log (PDF) directly from the "Comments & Activity" section of any expense.

  • In your accounting software: Every expense you export to your accounting system will automatically include its audit log as an attachment. You don’t need to turn anything on, it’s built in.

How to download an audit log in Moss

  1. Open the expense you want.

  2. Scroll to the "Comments & Activity" section.

  3. Click "Download Audit Log".

  4. A PDF will be created with the expense details and full history of actions.

What’s inside the log

Each log gives you:

  • Exact dates and times for all actions

  • The name of the person who took the action

  • What happened (for example: approved, edited, or commented)

  • A list of all attachments provided as supporting documents.

  • Expense details such as supplier, amount, invoice reference, and date

What to keep in mind

  • Logs are available for invoices, card transactions, and reimbursements.

  • Logs currently show the same events you see in Comments and Activity.
