Who this is for: Admins and Accountants (internal or external) managing invoices for a French legal entity.

Moss and the French regulation

1. What do I need to do to get set up?

You'll need to complete onboarding with Moss's registered platform provider, Invopop, for each French entity. This includes:

  • Providing your SIREN/SIRET, VAT number and legal details.

  • Providing customer authorization (name and signature).

Your Moss Customer Success Manager will guide you through this at the time of your onboarding.

2. Does Moss support the French e-invoicing regulation, and what do I need to do once I'm set up?

Once you have completed the identity verification with Invopop, no further action is needed to receive invoices. Compliant e-invoices from your French suppliers are forwarded automatically into your existing Moss 'Document inbox', alongside your other invoices.

3. What invoice formats are supported?

Factur-X, UBL and CII — the formats required under the French technical framework.

4. How do I process French e-invoices in Moss?

French e-invoices follow the same flow as your other invoices:

  • The invoice arrives in your 'Document inbox' automatically.

  • Moss reads the invoice data and populates the invoice details.

  • You review, approve and pay the invoice through your existing approval process.

  • You export the invoice to your accounting software as usual.

5. Does Moss prevent the same invoice arriving twice?

Yes. Moss checks each incoming invoice against a unique provider reference before creating it, so a duplicate delivery from the platform doesn't create a second invoice.

6. Does Moss support issuing French e-invoices?

No. Moss supports receiving domestic e-invoices only.

7. How does Moss make sure no invoices go missing?

Moss monitors error logs on both the provider side and the Moss side to check that invoices are delivered and processed correctly.

Practical implications and preparation

8. Will I still be able to receive invoices by email or as a PDF?

No. An emailed PDF on its own is not a compliant French e-invoice. Invoices must reach you through an accredited platform. Moss uses an integration based on webhook and API pulls. This integration is also secured and encrypted during data transmission. The invoice itself is validated and transmitted by the platform first.

9. How should my business prepare?

  • Confirm which of your legal entities are registered in France.

  • Complete onboarding with Invopop for each of those entities before 1 September 2026.

Let your Finance team know that French supplier invoices will now arrive automatically rather than by email.
