MS Business Central supports multiple cost dimensions. This article describes how to load these dimensions in Moss and how to use them.
MS Dynamics 365 Business Central setup
There's no additional steps needed to be performed to allow Moss to use dimensions. When setting up please refer to the standard setup procedure described here.
Adding dimensions to Moss
Once connected to MS Dynamics 365 Business Central, you may add more dimensions on "Settings" > "Accounting" > "Dimensions" tab.
Click "Add / Import dimension" button.
Select the dimension you want to add and a "Display name" that will be used in Moss.
Synchronisation starts automatically. On this page you can mark unnecessary items as "inactive", in this case Moss will not be trying to resynchronise marked items automatically.
An overview shows you a list of imported dimensions and the number of active items in each of them.
Now, when exporting spend, you can specify dimensions on a side drawer, in our case Area, Department, Sales person and Business group are filled.
On export, dimensions are automatically applied to a line item in MS Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Syncing MS Business Central Projects and Tasks
You can sync your MS Business Central Projects and Tasks with Moss, where they will appear as one consolidated dimension.
Navigate to "Settings" > "Accounting" > "Dimensions" to enable Projects & Tasks in Moss. Click “+ Add dimension” and choose “Project & tasks” from the dropdown menu. Once selected, Moss will synchronize and display your Projects & Tasks as a unified dimension.
Once the synchronization is finished, you will be able to assign Projects & tasks to various types of Moss expenditures, including card transactions, invoices, and reimbursements.
Just like any other dimension, Projects & Tasks are automatically assigned to line items in MS Dynamics 365 Business Central during the export process.
