Overview
This guide explains how Moss Wallet top-up transactions sync from Moss to Xero and how the balance movement is reconciled in Xero.
For Moss Credit customers, this process also applies to direct debit repayments for your credit balance.
Step 1: Review Your Accounting Setup
Before exporting transactions, ensure that your Moss Wallet Balance account and Business Bank Account are correctly configured in Xero.
To check this:
Go to Settings in Moss.
Navigate to Accounting.
Verify that:
The Moss Wallet Balance account in Xero is selected.
The Business Bank Account (used for top-ups) is correctly set up.
Step 2: Sync a Top-Up Transaction to Xero
Once your accounting setup is verified, follow these steps to export the top-up transaction:
Open the Export page in Moss.
Navigate to the Balance Movements tab.
Select the transaction(s) you want to sync.
Example: 40K top-up transaction.
Click the green "Export" button to send the transaction to Xero.
Confirm the export to complete the sync.
Step 3: Reconcile the Transaction in Xero
Once the top-up transaction is exported from Moss, Xero generates two transactions:
An outgoing transaction from your Business Bank Account (representing the top-up payment).
An incoming transaction into your Moss Wallet Balance Account (reflecting the funds added to Moss).
Reconcile the Transaction in Your Business Bank Account
In Xero, open your Business Bank Account (the account from which the top-up was made).
You'll see an unreconciled outgoing transaction for the relevant top-up amount.
The same amount also appears in your bank feed as an incoming transaction.
Xero will automatically suggest a match between the bank transaction (left side) and the transaction exported from Moss (right side).
Click "Reconcile" to confirm the match.
Verify the Transaction in Your Moss Wallet Balance Account:
Open the Moss Wallet Balance Account in Xero.
The top-up transaction will appear automatically reconciled since it was matched through the Moss platform.
