Buy DATEV Unternehmen Online (DUO) (Client)
If DATEV Unternehmen Online is not yet in use for the client, the product must first be bought and set up:
Buy DUO from the DATEV Shop or via MyDATEV client registration and create the client database.
Important: Make sure that DUO uses the same consultant & client number as the accounting records. This is the only way to ensure that documents/posting proposals are transferred correctly.
Pricing/Features: Overview of DUO in the Shop and in the DATEV price list.
Note: Prices are subject to change; the current price list is binding.
What is DUO and why is it useful for the Moss integration?
What is DUO and why is it useful for the Moss integration?
In short: DUO is no replacement for Kanzlei-Rechnungswesen (ReWe), but rather a standardised online portal for receipts and structured receipt data. External systems (like Moss) deliver their data to DUO via Rechnungsdatenservice 1.0 (RDS 1.0). From there, the information is sent to the law firm / DATEV server via "Bereitstellen" and is further processed in the programmes of DATEV Rechnungswesen (typically in batch processing).
What is DUO?
A DATEV cloud service for digital collaboration between companies and law firms (file, check, approve and pay receipts; data for further processing in ReWe).
The interface for structured receipt data + receipt images from third-party software via RDS 1.0 (Moss → DUO).
How are DUO and ReWe working together?
Moss → DUO: Moss transfers structured receipt data and receipt images to the DUO inventory via RDS 1.0.
Buy and set up Rechnungsdatenservice 1.0
If Rechnungsdatenservice 1.0 has not yet been bought for the client, this needs to be done before setup.
Important:
Rechnungsdatenservice 1.0 needs to be bought separately for each client.
Rechnungsdatenservice 1.0 should not be confused with Rechnungsdatenservice 2.0. These are two independent products.
Purchase & Setup: Follow the DATEV assistant "Rechnungsdatenservice 1.0 einrichten". You order the service, create the DUO inventory (if necessary) and set up access rights.
Billing/Prices: The service is charged for the consultant and client number under whicht the DUO inventory is managed. The applicable price scales are available in the DATEV Shop.

Open the DATEV dashboard and choose the correct client in the company overview.
Start the MyDATEV client registration.
Choose "DATEV Rechnungswesen 1.0" and click "Produkt auswählen" to start the client registration for the interface.
If applicable, a note will appear indicating how many users are eligible for rights assignment for the selected client. Simply confirm with "OK".
You can already add a new user here, who will later establish the Moss connection and therefore requires the appropriate permissions. The rights can also be configured later in Rechteverwaltung Online.
You then have to accept the terms and conditions and complete the order.
In the next step, you can grant permissions to the respective DATEV user, who is to establish the connection.
Rechteverwaltung Online opens again. You can simply skip this window (here you can also assign the necessary permissions for Rechnungsdatenservice 1.0).
Enter the communication data and click "Weiter". Now you can enter communication data and save them by clicking "Weiter".
Enter basic accounting data and click "Weiter". Now you can enter basic accounting data and save them by clicking "Weiter".
Enter bank journal data (if needed) and click "Fertig stellen". In the last step, you can enter bank journal data and save them by clicking "Fertig stellen". This step is not relevant for Moss.
✅ The process is complete and a new client has been created.
Check permissions in Rechteverwaltung online (RVO)
The user establishing the Moss connection needs explicit rights for Rechnungsdatenservice 1.0 for the relevant consultant and client number in Rechteverwaltung Online.
Common reason for errors:
Permissions are missing for the specific inventory that is to be linked to Moss (numbers do not match). Or the user is not using the access data that has the appropriate permissions. A quick cross-check can help.
