This article explains how admin users can update the bank account connected to their direct debit mandate for Moss platform fee collection.
Note: This process applies to the direct debit for Moss platform fees only. It is not related to the direct debit mandate used for credit repayments, which is a separate process.
What is Direct Debit Mandate used for?
Your Moss Platform fee will be charged via Direct Debit powered by our trusted partner Stripe directly within the Moss app. This provides a consistent and automated payment process for your monthly or annual subscription to the Moss platform.
To ensure your Moss Platform fees are paid successfully, please make sure:
You have an active Direct Debit mandate set up with Moss.
There are sufficient funds in the bank account linked to your Direct Debit on the payment due date.
Who can do this
Only admin users have access to billing settings and can update the connected bank account.
Check which account is currently connected
To see which bank account is linked to your current mandate:
Go to “Settings”.
Select “Plan & Billing”.
You'll see your connected payment method displayed here.
If no payment method is connected, click “Set up” to add one.
If a direct debit is already connected, you'll see the last four digits of the linked bank account.
Updating your bank account
To replace the connected bank account with a new one:
Go to “Settings” > “Plan & Billing”.
Click “Edit payment method”. A Stripe window will appear.
Enter your new bank account details:
Account number (IBAN for SEPA Direct Debit, Account number + Sort Code for BACS Direct Debit)
Name on account (The account holder name you enter must match the legal name registered on your Moss account. Use the legal name shown at the top of the window. If it does not match, the update will not be accepted.)
Billing address
Click “Set up bank account”.
Once set up, your old direct debit mandate will be automatically removed and replaced with a new mandate linked to the new account.
What happens after you click "Set up bank account"
Your previous mandate is cancelled immediately.
A new direct debit mandate is created for the new bank account.
Future Moss platform fee collections will be taken from the new account.
Frequently asked questions
Does updating my bank account affect my credit repayment direct debit?
No, updating your bank account for Moss platform fees does not affect your credit repayment direct debit. The two mandates are separate, and changing one does not affect the other.
What name should I enter for the account holder?
Use the legal name shown at the top of the Stripe window. This must match the legal name registered on your Moss account, otherwise the update will not be accepted.
