Important notice on recent increase in fraud:

There has been an increase in the number of cases where users are called by fraudsters pretending to be Moss support team:

  • Moss will never ask you to forward or otherwise share passwords or perform 2FA authentication

  • When in doubt, hang up and call our support line directly

Furthermore, recently we have also seen an increase SMS messages from scammers posing as merchants, often delivery companies such as DHL, DPD, UPS, and similar. Interacting with these merchants can lead to fraudulent charges to your card. To help you prevent fraudulent payments being charged to your card, we’ve put together a list of key suspicious things to be wary of:

  • Disregard messages from merchants or delivery companies that you are not expecting a package from.

  • Be wary of foreign sender phone numbers or short, suspicious links that are embedded in the message, such as https://bit.ly/.

  • Be cautious of messages encouraging urgency, such as those stating that your parcel cannot be delivered due to an incomplete delivery address.

  • Check if you have received an email too. Usually the email is the primary contact channel and/or both (email and SMS).

  • If you are expecting a package, use the tracking number you received from the merchant directly with the delivery company - do not follow links provided through messages from unknown senders.

We have seen an increase in fraud and social engineering efforts across Europe. Therefore, we want to share some tips with you on how to stay vigilant and safe online. Being aware and well-informed is the best way to combat fraud!

A fraudster may use social engineering, which covers a range of manipulative tactics used to gain your trust, in order to trick you into sharing sensitive data. Common social engineering methods include:

  • Phishing, in which fraudsters create fake emails, convincing websites, or login pages that appear to be from Moss in order to steal your personal information;

  • Spoofing, in which fraudsters contact you by phone while posing as a Moss representative.

To stay safe, always keep in mind these precautions:

1. Check the authenticity of emails and websites before entering personal information by verifying the URL.

  • Moss login pages should always use the precise URL: https://getmoss.com/login. We encourage you to bookmark the page in order to avoid logging into the wrong website.

  • To guarantee that you are on our homepage, enter www.getmoss.com directly into your web browser to access Moss. Set a bookmark for more convenience.

2. Exercise caution when clicking on hyperlinks and browser advertisement links.

  • Hover your cursor over links in order to check where the link will send you, to ensure you are not clicking on a fraudulent site.

  • Avoid accessing the Moss website indirectly via third party websites (e.g. search engine listings, advertising banners, hyperlinks from third-party websites). Fraudsters may place search listings or ads for fake or phishing websites.

3. Moss will never ask you for personal information outside of the Moss Mobile App. We will not send you links via SMS or contact you about your login, payment, or card details.

  • If you suspect something is wrong or if you believe your information may have been compromised, change your passwords immediately and contact us at support@getmoss.com.

Keeping your money secure is our main concern, but there are many actions you can take to safeguard your data as well.

4. Keep your personal data private, and do not share it with others.

  • Never reveal your login credentials, bank details, or card numbers or card PINs on unknown websites or to third parties, even if they claim to be from Moss. Learn more.

  • Never give your login data, such as your username or password, to other people. Also, our employees will never ask you for your password.

  • Moss will never ask you to enter more than one SMS code for login. If you see a message stating “Error, please enter new code”, it could be a phishing attack.

5. Check the validity of your links and mobile applications.

  • Carefully read the notifications and verification SMS messages you receive when transactions are made on your account. And ensure the transactions were initiated by you.

  • Only download the Moss mobile app from the official App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android.

6. Update your software and devices for your security, and report any unusual activities.

  • Keeping your software and devices up-to-date with the latest security patches can help protect you from phishing attacks. Turn on automatic app and software updates on your phone, and delete old apps you no longer use.

  • If you notice any unusual activities on your account or suspect that you may have fallen victim to a phishing attack, report it immediately to our customer support team.
