Prerequisites - Technical requirements
This section covers the technical requirements for setting up the interface to DATEV Accounting and setting up account synchronisation between Moss and DATEV.
Here we will ask you for information or ask you to take certain actions that will be required later for the link. Please make a note of this information, complete the required actions and have all materials and information ready.
Prereq 1: Technical DATEV infrastructure
As a first step, we need details about the technical infrastructure of the DATEV environment.
Please find out which DATEV infrastructure / server infrastructure you are using and keep this information ready for later.
ℹ️ DATEV programmes are installed locally on a Windows server. To set up the interface, we need to connect to the Windows server.
You will find this information on the invoice for your DATEV IT environment. If in doubt, you can also ask your accountant.
The interface is compatible with all DATEV IT environments. We need to know who runs the server for the DATEV programmes.
You can find a list of all common DATEV IT environments here:

⚠️ Before setting up the interface with Moss, please contact the server provider.
Other server providers
Please have the name and contact email address of your DATEV server provider ready.
⚠️ Before setting up the interface with Moss, please contact the server provider.
Own DATEV server
If the DATEV server is operated directly by you, i.e. directly by the client or the law firm, please provide a contact person from your IT department who will be responsible for implementing the interface.
If you are not sure which DATEV IT environment you are using, check the invoice for the DATEV server or speak to your contact at the tax office.
In addition to the exact DATEV IT infrastructure, we also need to know who is providing the infrastructure (is it operated or rented by the tax office and only made available to the client, or is it operated or rented by the client itself).
Prereq 2: Authorised signatory with DATEV access
To start the implementation, we need the approval of a person who is authorised to sign for your company in the DATEV environment.
⚠️This depends on who is responsible for the DATEV server. If the server is operated / rented by the tax firm and only made available to the client, the tax firm must authorise the database. If the DATEV server is used directly by the company/client, a person authorised to sign for the company according to the commercial register must release the data.
In the case of holding structures or several companies that share a DATEV IT environment, the company that operates or rents the server must be specified.
The stock can be released either with a DATEV authorisation (DATEV SmartCard or SmartLogin) or with Video-Ident via the provider Stripe (if the person authorised to sign, e.g. the managing director, does not have their own DATEV account).
Prereq 3: For DATEV SmartIT users only
In DATEV Smart-IT, the customer must order the third party connection module from DATEV once onboarding has been completed. A direct link to the DATEV Smart-IT service portal will be made available to the customer once onboarding has been completed.
This module currently costs an additional 30 EUR per month from DATEV.
