What is OCR?

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is a technology that enables the extraction of text from images, such as scanned documents or photographs. With OCR integration in our mobile app, you can now effortlessly submit reimbursements by simply uploading an image of the relevant receipt or invoice. The OCR functionality automatically reads and extracts key information from the document, eliminating the need for manual data entry and streamlining the reimbursement process.

The OCR functionality is available for both Android and iOS versions of our mobile app. Whether you are using an Android smartphone or an iPhone, you can take advantage of this feature to expedite the reimbursement process and simplify expense management.

How do I use OCR when submitting a reimbursement?

Using OCR when submitting a reimbursement is remarkably straightforward. After accessing the reimbursement section within our mobile app, proceed to initiate a new reimbursement request. When prompted to attach supporting documents, select the option to upload a file. Choose the image containing the receipt or invoice from your device's gallery. Our OCR technology will then process the image, extracting pertinent details such as the vendor name, date of purchase, and total amount spent, and populate the corresponding fields in your reimbursement form automatically.

What happens if the OCR process takes longer than expected?

In the event that the OCR process exceeds a predefined timeframe (typically 10 seconds), you will be presented with the option to cancel and proceed with manual data entry. This ensures that you maintain control over the reimbursement submission process and can opt for an alternative approach if necessary.

Can I rely on OCR to accurately extract information from all types of documents?

While our OCR technology is designed to accurately extract text from a wide range of documents, including receipts, invoices, and expense reports, its performance may vary depending on factors such as document quality and format. In cases where OCR encounters challenges, such as illegible text or complex layouts, manual data entry may be required to ensure accuracy. However, we are continuously refining and optimizing our OCR capabilities to enhance performance and accommodate diverse document types.
