Who can activate a physical card and set a PIN
Cardholders can activate physical cards. The cardholder is the user who the card was created for.
Cardholders from the UK have to follow additional steps to activate their card.
All other users (incl. Admins) cannot activate the physical card. Physical cards have to be activated by the cardholders himself.
How to activate a physical card and set a PIN
If you are the cardholder, you can activate your physical card in the app or website in the card section. To activate your card on the website, you have to follow these steps:
Activate your card and set PIN
Log in to the Moss website
Go to "Cards" > "My cards" and select the physical card you want to activate.
Click on "Activate Card".
Prove ownership: You will be asked to enter the last 4 card numbers that are being displayed on your physical card. Once you entered the last four digits you will have to do a second verification by approving the activation in your Moss mobile app or via 2FA per sms code.
Set a PIN: Provide a four-digit number you would like to use for validating offline, chip-and-PIN transactions with your card
Your card is now ready to use (for non-UK cardholders)
Note: In order to unlock the contactless payment method, you need to make one payment with the card using the chip and PIN.
Reminder: Please do not share your PIN with anybody else, to ensure card security.
Additional steps for cardholders in the UK
To activate your card and enable contactless payment, you need to do these additional steps in the UK.
Make sure you have followed the steps above up and have finished setting a PIN
Head to an ATM.
Insert your card into the ATM and check your balance. You can also do that while you are abroad.
Don’t worry if the incorrect amount is displayed. We don’t want your company's balance to be displayed on screen.
After withdrawing your card from the ATM, the card is ready to be used!
Reminder: If you change your PIN, you need to repeat these steps again.
What to do when you have two physical cards?
We expect that you only need one physical card per user. Sometimes this is not the case, because e.g. you reordered a physical card and now you have two physical cards.
To solve this case, you should (1) terminate the redundant card in the (web)app and then (2) dispose the redundant card.
(1) Terminate your card
You can learn how to terminate your physical card in this article.
(2) Dispose of your card
Please dispose the redundant physical card by cutting the card chip.
Context. This situation can occur if a physical card was reordered during delivery. The support team can reorder physical cards if they are not delivered within 10 business days. In these cases, we have to acknowledge that the card may have been lost or stolen during delivery and order a new physical card as replacement or backup. Customers are recommended to use the card that arrives first and terminate the redundant card immediately after delivery.
