What is 3DS?

3DS, also known as 3-D Secure, is a process that increases the security of online purchases. Due to a two-factor identity confirmation, which requires the cardholder to use another security method in addition to the credit card number and security code, fraudulent cases can effectively be reduced.

Extended identity confirmation via two-factor authentication (2FA) has even been mandatory in Europe and other countries. When a purchase is made online with the Moss credit card, 3DS automatically verifies whether 2FA is required.

For users with Moss Mobile App

When requesting authentication via 3DS, a pop-up will open on the merchant website asking you to confirm the transaction on your cell phone. You will then receive a push notification on your mobile.

Follow these steps if you want to authenticate the transaction

  1. Open the Moss app on your phone

  2. Log in with your 4-digit passcode

  3. A window will open with the payment details (merchant and amount) and buttons to confirm and decline.

  4. Click "Confirm" after checking the payment details and only if you really want to authenticate the transaction.

If you want to learn more about mobile authentication, you can read this article.

CAUTION: If you receive an app notification when you are not making a transaction, immediately block your card and contact customer support at support@getmoss.com or the phone numbers in the footer. Do not authenticate any request that you cannot identify!

For users without the Moss Mobile App

When requesting authentication via 3DS, a pop-up will open on the merchant website asking you to enter a one-time PIN (OTP). You will receive an SMS where this PIN will be included.

Follow these steps if you want to authenticate the transaction

  1. Open the SMS and find the six-digit OTP. Please make sure that the transaction amount and merchant name in the SMS are correct.

  2. Enter the OTP from the SMS into the window on the merchant website.

  3. Click on "Confirm" only if you really want to authenticate the transaction.

CAUTION: If you receive a text message when you are not making a transaction, immediately block your card and contact customer support at support@getmoss.com or the phone numbers in the footer. Do not authenticate any request that you cannot identify!
