Who can create a card


Admins can create cards for themselves and all users.

Users & Internal Accountants can create or request cards for themselves, depending on the respective approval policy.

External Accountants cannot create or own cards.

How to create a card


Create cards on the website

If you are a user or an internal accountant, you can create or request cards for yourself, depending on your companies' approval policy. Once the card has been requested, the request has to be approved based on the approval flow as defined for your company and/or your assigned team by your admins.

Note: By default, Admins can also create cards for themselves. However, our support team can configure your Moss account so that when an admin wants a card for themselves, it must be approved by someone else before it’s issued. With this setting enabled, when an admin fills in the Create Card form and selects themselves as the Cardholder, the button on the form changes from “Create Card” to “Request Card.” The Card Request then uses the relevant Approval Policy for Card Requests. If the Approval Policy states that the admin the card is for should approve their own requests, then instead Moss sends the requests to that Admin’s Manager. If no manager is assigned to the requesting admin, the request is sent to a different admin. Contact us at support@getmoss.com

You can create cards on the website as follows:

  1. Log in to the Moss platform.

  2. Go to "Cards" > "Create Cards"

  3. Choose the type of card you need

  4. Fill out the card form

  5. Click "Request new card"

  6. Once your type of virtual card has been approved, it will be ready to use. Physical cards take a few days to arrive after they have been approved and need to be activated by you, before you can start using it.

Create cards in the mobile App

Most card requests need to be approved by a responsible person. Admins are able to create cards without needing any approval. If you don’t want this to be possible, you can get in touch with us at support@getmoss.com.

You can create cards in the app as follows:

  1. Open the Moss Mobile App and log in

  2. Go to “Home” > “Cards”

  3. Click on “+ Create Card” at the top

  4. Select the type of card you want to request

  5. Additional step for Admins: Choose the cardholder. This can be someone else, or you can create a card for yourself.

  6. Add in the requested information for the type of card and set the card limits in the next steps

  7. Your card request has now been sent for approval. Once your virtual card got approved, it is ready to be used. Your physical card has to arrive first and has to be activated by you. If you are an admin and created a virtual card for yourself or others, it will automatically be available.

Note: If your physical card hasn’t arrived yet, and you want to pay in a store, you can add your virtual or single purchase cards to Apple Pay and Google Wallet.
