Moss corporate credit cards streamline expense management and financial oversight by providing individual virtual and physical cards to employees.

Unlike traditional systems that use one corporate card for all company spending, Moss offers greater visibility, control, and efficiency in budgeting and accounting processes.

Moss cards are typically created purpose-specific, often, employees have more than one card.

The Workflow of Moss Cards

Getting the Cards

  1. Create a request: Employees submit card requests tailored to specific needs—such as a fixed monthly allowance, single-use purchases, or vendor-specific payments. Admins can create cards for everyone.

  2. Approving a request: Submitted requests are routed directly to authorized approvers (typically managers) to ensure spending compliance and budget adherence.

Using the Cards

  1. Access Card: Upon approval, employees gain access to their virtual card details for online transactions or can easily integrate the card with Apple Pay or Google Wallet for in-store purchases.

  2. Receipt Submission: Employees are responsible for submitting receipts through multiple convenient channels provided by Moss. You can easily send reminders to all employees missing receipts.

  3. Automated Receipt Processing: Moss’s integrated OCR technology automatically captures and extracts essential transaction details from submitted receipts.

Virtual Cards

  • All-purpose card with recurring limit resets

  • Start spending right away - no physical card needed

Safety: Virtual cards are the safest way of processing payments and should be your go-to-card for all card transactions, online and in-store.


Subscription cards

A virtual card assigned to a specific vendor (e.g. Slack, GitHub, Microsoft)

  • maintain an overview of all your recurring vendors.

  • Set default accounting attributes to automate all payments on this card.

  • Control vendor payments by freezing or terminating the card

Subscription cards do not block payments from vendors different to the assigned one.


Single purchase cards

A virtual card but that is automatically terminated after using it once.

To make sure card validations are covered:

  • The single purchase card is available for 24h after usage and only for the same merchant

  • If your transaction is under 2€ the card will not trigger the 24h countdown and the merchant was not yet set.


Project Cards

A virtual card with a set date on which it will automatically be terminated.

  • Create purpose-specific (e.g. Event)

  • Change the termination date if needed


Physical cards

This is your the classical physical credit card as every bank offers it. Remember that with virtual cards in Apple Pay and Google Wallet, physical cards are not required to pay in stores.

Which status can a card have, and what does the status mean?

Cards can have different statuses, the status indicated in which phase the card is currently.

Admins and cardholders can always deactivate or temporarily block cards.

  • Pending: The card has not yet been approved yet. You are not able to use it yet.

  • Active: The card has been approved and is ready to be used.

  • Frozen: A cardholder might decide to freeze a card of their own for a certain amount of time. This can be undone anytime.

  • Blocked: The card has been blocked by an Administrator and can only be unblocked by them again.

  • Terminated: Terminated cards cannot be used anymore and cannot be reactivated.
